Journeyman & Apprentice Carpenters – Camp Work

We are interested in hiring Red Seal Journeymen/women and all Apprentice Levels 1 through 4 with recent experience related to the applicant skill set or technical training level

Responsibilities

  • Construct, erect, install and strip wood and engineered formwork systems for columns, walls, suspended slabs, slab on grade and concrete stairs
  • Install anchor bolts and embedded steel for concrete pours
  • Frame and finish exterior walls, roofs, interior walls, build stairs, decks, etc.
  • General labour duties and cleanup as required
  • May work with or near cranes and moving equipment

 

Qualifications

  • Must have a Journeyman Carpenter Certificate from a recognized provincial training authority or be a Registered Carpenter Apprentice with a recognized provincial training authority
  • RED SEAL certification is an asset
  • Must have formwork experience
  • Able to accurately read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches
  • Practical knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol testing as required on a project-by-project basis
  • Have relevant experience in heavy commercial/industrial and/or civil concrete construction
  • Have a minimum of 1-5 years experience working with concrete formwork including loose form and engineered formwork systems
  • Be in good health and physically fit
  • Effective oral communication skills

  • Able to work at heights and balance on platforms, scaffolds, and decks
  • Able to work alone, or as part of a team
  • Display good verbal and written communication skills when working with other employees
  • Knowledge in trade related math and basic survey layout
  • Hardworking and able to readily accept and apply direction from a Supervisor
  • Hand and finger dexterity for reaching, handling, and feeling while working

 

Work conditions

  • Sites located in Kitimat, BC.
  • Working outside – exposure to the elements
  • Wages and fringes are at Union rates and also include medical/dental benefits
  • Shift is 14 Days On/7 Days Off, 10 Hours/Day, Camp is provided

Expected start date: Immediately.

Job Types: Full-time, Fly-In/Fly-Out, Shift Rotation

Salary: $24.00 to $38.00 per hour, based on experience, knowledge, apprenticeship level
