We are interested in hiring Skilled Labourers for work throughout Northern BC and Alberta

Job Description

To be considered for this skilled labourer position you must have a minimum of 24 months of construction industry experience

Position Summary

The Skilled Labourer is responsible for general tasks on an active construction site. This will include things such as site clean-up, loading and unloading of materials, operating equipment and will require shift work covering both days and nights in all weather conditions

Job Responsibilities:

  • Clean debris, trash, and hazardous materials from construction sites
  • Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately
  • Drive trucks carrying materials and equipment from warehouse to sites
  • Ensure that all work is being done in compliance with the company’s protocols
  • Load and unload construction materials and equipment; move materials and equipment to work areas
  • Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and assist in other activities
  • Job requires ability to work with hand tools, small engine equipment, and materials. Capable of operating equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction such as mixers, compressors, and pumps
  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
  • Perform other activities as directed

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to work with limited supervision
  • Must have a minimum of 24 months of industry experience
  • Concrete experience is an asset
  • Must be team player and must be willing to participate in company safety and production requirements
  • Familiarity with active construction sites
  • Effective communication skills: must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, report progress or issues to foreman/lead hand
  • Have good judgment and ability to make decisions
  • Responsible and dependable
  • Ability to lift heavy loads repeatedly through an entire work shift
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires good manual dexterity
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
  • Able to pass any pre-access screening, including a Drug and Alcohol test
  • Experience with civil construction, earthworks and concrete are all assets
  • Valid Drivers Licence, CSTS and other safety certifications are assets

Working Conditions

  • Must be physically fit and able to work in remote camp locations
  • Outdoor work subject to extreme weather changes
  • Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, day, and night
  • Physically able to work outdoors performing hard labour tasks
  • Must be able to work access/board equipment in areas with uneven ground or snow or soft ground/surface water

Job Types: Full-time

Salary: $22.00 to $28.00 per hour, based on knowledge & experience
